Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support
- Fostering a strong sense of belonging and student voice.

- Social-Emotional Learning - supporting students in developing essential skills such as self-awareness and positive interactions among peers.
- Peer Support Programs - encouraging students to look out for each other.
- Wellbeing Programs - TPS offers ‘Wellbeing Rewards Days’ as a celebration of students achievements and are held twice each term.
- Targeted Early Intervention Program - provided on school premises in conjunction with Temora Community Centre.
The Resilience Project is a program designed to teach students the skills and strategies necessary to build resilience and improve mental health and wellbeing. If focuses on equipping young people with practical tools to navigate challenges and develop a positive mindset. The 3 key pillars of the Resilience Project: Gratitude, Empathy & Mindfulness are delivered to students alongside curriculum based learning.
Wellbeing Programs
The Resilience Project
Temora Public School and Temora High School are working together to implement the Resilience Project. All staff at Temora Public School are trained and teach the principles of GEM (Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness) in their class groups. Our aim is to include local businesses, youth services, health services and sporting groups so that we are all speaking the same language.
Temora Community Centre
Mrs Anne Macauley and Mrs Heather Krause from the Temora Community Centre support Temora Public School students through 1:1 mentoring sessions, group work and specialist programs such as Drumbeat.
Speech and Occupational Therapy
Parents are able to schedule appointments with local speech and occupational therapists, as well as via Telehealth, to be delivered at school, during school hours.
Assistant Principal Learning and Support
Mrs Sasha Murphy works collaboratively with teachers and SLSO staff to implement evidence-based programs to support students learning needs, support with personalised adjustments for students, co-ordinate professional learning opportunities and liaise with Departmental and External services.
Wellbeing Days
Students participate in Wellbeing reward days every five weeks. This is to reward those students who consistently demonstrate the correct behaviour.
Students also collect House points which are given out in class and on the playground as a positive reward. At the end of the 3 weeks, all the house points are counted, and the winning house get to have free play with Mrs Pike.
